NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 mission has “started” launching to the International Space Station following a launch readiness review, weather briefing and mission management meeting today (February 28). Launched by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, it is now targeting Thursday, March 2 at 12:34 a.m. ET. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket with the company’s Dragon spacecraft is seen at sunset, Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The rocket is ready on the launch pad at Launch Complex 39A in preparation for the continuation of the Crew-6 mission. NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 mission is the sixth crew rotation mission of the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket to the International Space Station as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program.

The mission team withdrew from the Feb. 27 launch attempt to review anomalous data signatures related to confirming proper discharge of a pad supply fluid known as triethylaluminumtriethylboron (TEA-TEB). TEA-TEB is an ignition fluid used to start the Falcon 9’s first stage kerosene/lox Merlin engines. The bleed process ensures that each engine has a sufficient supply of this liquid to mix with the liquid oxygen and start the engine. Prior to launch, the TEA-TEB fluid originates from a ground supply tank that flows to the rocket’s interface and returns to a relay tank to purge the ground piping. During engine starting, fluid flows to the engine for ignition. The flow rate into the receiver tank is one of several parameters used to determine that fluid has been properly injected into the system. China aluminum welding and fabrication Manufacturer

After a thorough review of the data and ground systems, NASA and SpaceX determined that return flow to the surface TEA-TEB tank was reduced due to clogged ground filters. This clogged filter fully explained the features observed in the launch attempts. The SpaceX team replaced filters, purged the TEA-TEB line with nitrogen, and verified the line was clean and ready for launch.

Weather officers with the 45th Weather Squadron at Cape Canaveral Space Station continue to predict a 95 percent chance of favorable weather conditions for the Crew-6 launch, with the flight through precipitation rules the primary weather concern. Conditions along the spacecraft’s ascent path were acceptable, but will remain an observational item for Thursday’s attempt. China aluminum welding and fabrication Manufacturer

NASA astronaut Stephen Bowen (mission commander) and pilot Warren Hoborg joined as mission specialists United Arab Emirates astronaut Sultan Arniadi and Roscosmos Cosmos Andrei Fediav will go to the space station to perform scientific research missions. The international crew will travel aboard a Dragon spacecraft called Endeavour, which previously carried NASA’s Demo-2, NASA’s Crew-2 and Axiom Mission 1 “Astronaut.

After approximately 24.5 hours of sailing, the crew will dock with the space-facing port of Microgravity Lab’s Harmony module at approximately 1:17 a.m. on Friday, March 3. At 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, NASA TV and the agency’s website began reporting on the arrival.

Beginning Wednesday, March 1 at 9 p.m., tune in to NASA TV or on the agency’s website for a live broadcast of the Crew-6 launch, and follow the countdown and other key mission milestones. China aluminum welding and fabrication Manufacturer
