In this context, combined with the practical experience of operators and the current development of “5G + Industrial Internet” in Hubei Province, it is believed that the current industrial Internet development still has the following problems.

Efficient technical collaboration with the Industrial Internet has not yet been formed

At present, the development of various technical elements of the Industrial Internet in Hubei Province is good, but in the process of application and evolution, each element tends to evolve vertically, and has not yet formed a coordinated evolution, lacking ecological synergy, mainly in the following three aspects.

First, there is a lack of cooperation between industrial production equipment and 5G. During the period when enterprises promoted technology upgrades, the iteration of automation equipment mainly focused on solving production problems, but lacked coordination with the evolution of the intranet. Production equipment is often not deeply adapted to 5G features in terms of business logic and system architecture, and even does not have 5G network functions, making business and network ineffective collaboration. The second is the lack of cooperation between the industrial core control logic and 5G. 5G is still on the edge of industrial production, and it is difficult to cut into the core production business. From the perspective of the industrial industry, the industrial core control architecture is currently relatively closed, and control protocols such as PLC have not been openly reconstructed for 5G technology. The underlying support for industrial core control logic, the uRLLC standard and TSN support that are of great significance to industrial control are not yet commercially available on a large scale, and the co-evolution of industry and 5G standards is required.

The third is the lack of cooperation between the network technologies of the enterprise intranet. First, the data interaction standards of various enterprises are not unified, the information standards for direct procurement of production equipment are different, and the enterprise process data has its own design, and other unstructured information is complicated and messy. The basis for data exchange is lacking. Even if all elements in the production process are assigned labels, it still cannot drive the effective flow of data.

Second, there is no trusted data interaction platform, and there is also a problem with how standardized data can be flexibly transmitted and invoked quickly, safely, and with authority. The direct cross-enterprise data flow on the Internet has obvious security risks. It is difficult to coordinate the interface standards and permissions of multi-enterprise data intermodulation, and there is a lack of important conditions for efficient data flow.

Enterprises still have concerns about the application of industrial Internet technology

Judging from the current application companies, it is still the leading companies in the industry that boldly embrace the Industrial Internet. In Hubei, the provincial leaders represented by China Xinke, Midea, Dongfeng, etc. are actively building 5G fully-connected factories; YOFC and Huazhong CNC are also represented by investing in the construction of industrial Internet logo analysis nodes and developing related applications industry leader. In general, few small-scale industrial enterprises take the initiative to participate in the transformation of the Industrial Internet. Relevant industrial Internet technologies are still facing great resistance in the process of promoting them to the majority of enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises. The main reasons are still concentrated on the difficulty of deployment and the cost of use.

Taking 5G fully-connected factories as an example, the current application model needs to customize the network architecture, and requires enterprises to invest in the industrial Internet platform to transform the information system architecture. The technical difficulty and required investment are relatively high, which belongs to the evolution of the enterprise strategic level. This is not only difficult for small and medium-sized enterprises to start, but also does not have obvious short-term direct economic benefits, which further reduces the interest of related enterprises in using the Industrial Internet, forming a situation where it is difficult to take the first step. However, if a large number of small and medium-sized industrial entities cannot participate in the overall construction of the Industrial Internet, it will inevitably lead to the inability to efficiently create value in the collaborative application of the Industrial Internet represented by identification analysis, supply chain collaboration, etc., and the relative lack of short-term value will make the corresponding industries. The speed of research and development has slowed down, forming a negative feedback. To this end, it is necessary to find relevant power points, cultivate industry breakers, and organically combine application research and development with promotion and deployment through firm initial investment, break the cycle and turn negative into positive, so as to achieve positive feedback in the value chain.
